The Flute Concerto No. 1 in G major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart followed with a much smaller orchestra. The likeable flautist Clara Andrada de la Calle is often seen playing in the ranks of the orchestra and her fine playing can also be heard in solo passages. She made an imposing impression as a soloist that evening. The melody-rich and at times very virtuosic concert offered her plenty of opportunities to do so. Wonderfully warm notes, a wide dynamic range between powerful sound and delicate tones, the playful virtuosity so typical of Mozart, enchantingly played melody lines and two sensitive cadenzas - all this made for a special listening pleasure. Her colleagues provided her with a perfect backdrop, playing with great sensitivity and attentively guided by the conductor. The applause, for which Clara Andrada de la Calle expressed her gratitude with the enchanting ‘Syrinx’ by Claude Debussy, was correspondingly enthusiastic and sustained.
